Just finished watching the documentary "Welcome to Macintosh" on Netflix and there is a point where several of the subjects have 2 or 3 iPods per person in the house. It got me wondering how many I had. Then I thought about it.

1 16 gig iPod Touch Gen 1
1 8 gig iPod Touch Gen 2
1 iPod Nano Gen 1
1 iPhone 3g (it has an iPod in it so I count it)

That puts that at 4 iPods for the 3 people in my house. So how many do you have?

I voted 5, but that is in the household. I have 2, 1 for running and 1 that I keep permanently in the vehicle. Wifey has 1, and both my kids have a shuffle. I didn't count the iPhone though. I use Pandora to listen to music on it.

I've got 3: an iphone 3G, touch 32GB 1G and my old trusty photo 40GB. Don't think I'd get too much money for the photo, so I might aswell keep it. I've got about 16GB of music so I'll need a 32GB phone before I can ditch the touch.

My GF also has an old 4GB mini.

I have 8. I should take advantage of the recycle program to get 10% off - but never do.

I have three, a 80GB classic, a 120GB classic - I travel a lot and live abroad quite a bit, and would be completely lost without my iPod, so both are ready to hand, just in case one of them expires suddenly. In addition, I also have a four year old 30GB classic that has died and that I have not got around to disposing of in an appropriate environmentally friendly manner yet.

Cheers and good luck

Four for me:

30 gb Gen 5 video
120 gb Gen 6.5 Classic
16 gb Gen 1 Touch
1 gb Gen 2 Shuffle

They all serve different purposes. The Gen 5 was my primary music player, replaced by the Classic when I ran out of storage on the Gen 5 and the newer software became appealing. The Touch I barely use for music. It's my PDA. The apps are the most appealing feature of that for me. The shuffle is for working out.

Apple is genius being able to get people to buy several reiterations of the same product.

i have 4:

4gb mini
8gb 2nd gen red nano
8gb 3rd gen nano
16gb 1st gen touch

I use the touch and the 2nd gen nano the most :D

Everyone has one, but I currently have 2. So that's 6 in total. Of all types too- 2G Shuffle, 5.5G iPod(*2), 6G iPod, Nano and Touch.

I have 8.

1gb 1g shuffle: mine

8gb 1g ipod Touch: mine

8gb 2g ipod Touch: brothers

16gb 2g ipod Touch: mine

8gb 4g nano: mine

8gb 4g nano: brothers

4gb 3g ipod shuffle: mine

30gb ipod video: moms

And I just preordered the zune hd. I also have 2 broken 8gb 2nd gen nanos that I think Ill use to get 10% off a new classic.

One.

I get bored pretty quickly with iPod's, it usually last less than a year.

In fact I just sold my 16GB green 4G nano. Just waiting for the new 32GB touch or Classic.

4 -- iPod Touch 2g, iPod Shuffle 1g, iPod Shuffle 2g, and Video iPod 5g (later called the iPod Classic).

I live off of the Touch for everyday portable info, with 99% of the content being news podcasts. The 2g shuffle is for audiobooks with this little device providing excellent portable sound.

One. It's in my sig.

I've been thinking about getting a 4th gen nano ever since the Apple Refurb store had 8 Gb 4th gen nanos for $99. This would double my capacity and give me video capability, which my 2nd gen doesn't have. Of course, now that it's so close to September 9th, I think I'll wait to see what comes along. If I don't find a compelling reason to get any of the new products (and a built-in camera is not compelling enough for me), I'll probably spring for a refurb 4th gen (blue, of course).

Let's see...
2 x 60GB iPod Video
1 x 30GB iPod Video
2 x 8GB iPod Touch
1 x 8GB iPod Nano
1 x 16GB iPhone 3G
1 x 512MB iPod Shuffle

That makes 8 if you count the iPhone, 7 if you don't. Wow, didn't realize that there were so many in the house.
