How many of you are El Capitan beta testers?

Should we start this request on the El Capitan beta forum?

I am thinking about installing El Capitan on a Flash Drive. Does anyone have any advice for doing this?

Why not simply create a partition for it on your hard drive?

No, you can add a partition in Disk Utility.

Only works if you have enough space for it. Not everyone has that luxury. You could probably get away with installing El Capitan on a cheap 32gb usb drive... not like you really need much more space.

20 GB is about the minimum for trying a clean install of OS X, and that isn't a whole lot of space.

It isn't, but when you have Apple selling computers with systems that are limited to one drive that also has limited capacity (256gb SSD), 20gb of space is pretty precious. Thankfully for me, I've got a slew of computers to test this out on.

I'm more concerned about the 128 GB systems. That being said, I have 4 versions of OS X (including 10.11) installed on the 128 GB SSD in my 2008 MacBook Air, and could probably find room for a 5th. Not many large user files on it though, as you might have guessed.

Thankfully for me, I've got a slew of computers to test this out on.

Same. I normally don't touch my main Mac with betas, but I have it installed on 2 others, including as the only OS on my 13" rMBP.

I have three Macs that I use in my business, so I was thinking about installing El Capitan on a flash drive or an external SSD. That way I can test El Capitan without damaging my business computers.

Two questions:

First, does anyone know of a guide for installing El Capitan on an external drive? (I have some ideas based on years of Mac experience, however, I am open to new ways and ideas.)

Second, anyone have an SSD or fast flash drive recommendation?
