I went on launch day to the apple store, whole process took me like 7 hrs... There was an activation error, the apple store employee had to call several numbers and was transferred several times... Eventually they manually activated the phone, but they couldn't sell it to me because of the way things work at the apple they go through a process of activating the phone then ringing you out...

Also, I ported a number from verizon to att a process which I was told would take 6hrs took over a day just for voice, but only after I called to att on sat. My text messaging was still mixed and for a while I didn't receive some messages from people on verizon or tmobile. But on sunday night got a text from a verizon customer and now everything seems to be fine... Was well worth all of the hassle and headache that I went through IMHO...

So what about you guys??

upgrading my v1 from 1.1.4 to 2.0 took around 10 minutes, including the backup, upgrade and restore.

Then it took nearly 6 hours to activate via itunes....

Sucks!!!

I got in line at ~ 4:20 pm on Friday, and actually got into the store to do my purchase around 7pm, and had no activation issues.

I got the infamous IRU error due to my account having a discount and being flagged as "Small Business". I was one of the first in the door and did not get out til 11am. And even then, I ended up registering a whole new AT&T account which I then worked with AT&T customer service to get canceled so I could use my iPhones on my current account. A fiasco, but I am happy now. No activateion fees (saved $18 x 2) and other benefits of doing things that way also, heh.
