how many of you have sons/daughters whose high schools have finally become 100% iPhone schools? (as in 100% of the students have iPhones)

Two of my local high schools have finally made it. (the first one achieved it 4 years ago and the second one just happened as of 2 weeks ago, according to school newsletter that arrived in the mail this morning) When they started tracking this, I was a little "concerned" because they did it by requiring all students to register their phones, in order to get on the school's wifi network. I assume that the IT dept was able to see what kind of devices were connecting to the network?

Maybe for parents to show their obnoxious teens. Who thinks they're rebellious. That they're still just following the herd. 🤣

dont' flame me... but part of the reason is so the parents can show this fact to their friends and co-workers. (almost like those "My Son/Daughter is an honor student at ______ school" bumper stickers, which nobody seems to be putting on their bumpers anymore)

PSA: also... teach kids to use VPNs, because who know what school IT people are doing with the wifi traffic from their phones)

Lol that's more cringe that celebrating a child's academic achievements. The newsletter editor needs some new content ideas.

Agree with you on teaching kids to be selective on which networks they connect to.

Finally. Finally? You're kidding. Right?

My son went to MIT (Maricopa Institute of Technology) for four years. Graduated this year. It's a $14M STEM school project that started in 2016. My son showed up in 2017 as a freshman. The science labs at this school are medical grade and serve as backups for an east coast university.

MIT is served by the Riverside School District in Phoenix and as part of the public school system anyone with the grades to get in can attend. Busing is included.

As a technology school it includes sciences, robotics, coding, architecture, math, IT and a bunch of other advanced classes.

MIT at the time my son graduated had a mixture of Android and iPhone among the student body. The laptops assigned to students were all PC, Dell and Sony typically.

So, I can't honestly say that the school my son attended reached pure iPhone. However, given where he went, I hardly think that matters. ;)

Oh yeah…my son is first year ASU (Arizona State University) now. Computer Engineering.
