Today all the people seem to use only Gmail, but i think that it's not a perfect service and their imap implementation is not perfect.

What email service do you use for all the principal and more important comunication?

Some people still using yahoo mail?

Bye!

Bye!

I still have a yahoo email account I use for registering gear and other public facing uses. I have other accounts (including gmail) for personal use among friends and family.

Honestly Gmail is the most secure provider out there.

Yahoo is bad, for someone to get into your account they either need to know your security question answer (if you set one) or know the DOB and phone number on the account. I don't trust them for this reason.

Hotmail/Gmail are the best.

My dad uses Yahoo Mail for his personal emails still (has been since 2002, it came with 2GB of space in our internet package at the time). Some people just want to get email more than anything else. He only uses Gmail because that's the system that the school switched to maybe six years back now - And he actually doesn't like the interface in comparison.

Email is getting less important to him anyway because everyone's texting.

I would worry more if he was more computer literate enough to even be sending PDFs, photos, etc.

Me, I use iCloud as my default and Gmail as my backup. I used Gmail as my main one from 2004/5 to maybe three years ago now.

I don't believe that's true, just your impression imo. I have a yahoo account but i don't use it anymore for serious stuff, still i use it and check it everyday. Gmail as default mail service of course.

Mail is pretty useless nowadays. I just use it to subscribe to websites, most people uses facebook for it...
iCloud is enough for me, but I still have outlook and aol accounts.

What is wrong with Gmail's IMAP implementation? I use Gmail with a few third party Mail applications and it seems to work just fine.

I never used Yahoo mail... but sister changed after her account got hacked.

Has Yahoo mail taken care of spam problem, or still an issue?

I had a serious issue with Yahoo years ago. The end result was that they refused to let me get to my mail which had a few years of sensitive mails. They agreed that my account was compromised yet forced it to remain closed. Since then, I have not bothered with Yahoo for anything. While I understand that big business or those that service a large population can't always be personal, they still need to be somewhat reasonable. I know plenty of others who left Yahoo and we see them no longer in the forefront as they were years ago.

I have Yahoo for my personal stuff and some 6 Gmail accounts, one for all those spam driven places and the other ones for the different business specially because I use google drive a lot.

I still use Yahoo as my main e-mail. I have a g-mail account with a more professional name that I don't use enough to generate much spam, if any. Yahoo is pretty good at managing my spam. I just have to check the spam folder once a week or so to see if any "good" mail slipped in there. It does, occasionally, and that's my only problem with it.

I have a yahoo account, at least I think I do. Back in the day, I had a geocities account that yahoo bought, and my yahoo account was created <userid>.geo. I use that for instant messaging, but I can't say I ever looked at the email portion for my user id. Given that Yahoo is killing instant messaging in about a month, I'll be looking to close out my yahoo account as I have no other reason to have that.

I didn't realize they were shutting down their IM service, but having looked into it a bit it seems like they are just shutting down the access of older IM clients, while the IM service itself would still be supported and would still work with the current clients that they are providing/supporting.
