I don't like partitioning my 500GB hard drive, there just isn't enough space. I've just come to not bother with games not playable on Mac (or on PS3/Xbox), if the game is PC exclusive I normally just give up on it, unless I really want it.
I haven't run into that problem yet because I don't really do heavy gaming on my iMac, just light games which are on the Mac App Store anyway. So what do you do if you really want it?
I do bootcamp and will be to play games. I returned my MBP 15" and now think I made a mistake as it does seem with bait of tweaking in Win 7 the GT650m is a very capable card.

If I really wanted it, I'd probably use Bootcamp, but I hope that day doesn't come.
What Mac app store ?? They have app store for iOS but I don't think they have Mac app store ?
If they do I have not seen it.
Do you have link?
http://www.apple.com/osx/apps/app-store.html
that goes to the Mountain Lion page, but it was an addition for 10.6, and came stock in 10.7.
Go here -> http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/civilization-v-campaign-edition/id439924718?mt=12 and click the View in Mac App Store button under the App icon. If there isn't a button the store may not be available in your region. That link talks about Mountain Lion and promotions for app for Mountain Lion.
If you click you see 6 games . It seems to be about Mountain Lion and promotions for app for Mountain Lion.

I've always wanted to learn how to use Cider and Wineskin for games, I guess getting the rMBP presents a good opportunity to find out. Any recommendations for tutorials?

Crossover does make some things easy, but there are several games you can get to run better, or at least run period that you cannot do in Crossover. Crossover is made to be user friendly, but its kind of limited in many ways.Easiest way is to buy crossover. I did and it takes all the guess work out of configuring games. It's easy to use and has a lot of profiles for many games.
