I have an imac 27 2017 , and I would like to improve it adding 8 gb of ram. Do you think its better to buy 1 x8 gb or 2of 4 gb. I thought maybe for the future it is better to have an extra slot , but I have heard something about dual channel. The performance is the same ¿

Thanks

You want it in matched pairs. Dual channel is faster. But it will work with one. Search there forum there are other detailed threads on configurations, slots and placements. Personally I have stock 2x4GB plus 2x8GB. If I want more I will just keep spare or sell the 4GB’s.
