I’ve used a first generation from 2016 until last year myself and it’s now used by my son to watch some kids shows still. My wife uses her 2018 iPad Pro daily as well still.

Not only I have it, but I bought it refurbished on purpose after the M1 12.9 came out... Why? Because it's 50 grams lighter, which make it more comfortable for holding it while reading a document. I don't care about miniled (I have the OLED Tab S7+) or any other feature except RAM. Basically I traded half the RAM for half the price ($700 for the 256GB model). Given the iPadOS limitations and, especially, the fact that I have other iPads pros, Macs and Windows PCs, I am kind of ok with the RAM as I spread open tabs and other open apps over multiple devices (I don't keep more than 5-6 open tabs on the 4GB RAM iPads)

I really don't use my 2018 iPad 12.9 enough to justify replacing it. After buying a 13" M1 Air, the iPad can't compete on weight, battery life, and apps have stagnated. That is more the fault of iPadOS 15 than anything, as it feels as though all we got was Home Screen widgets. Apps can't take advantage of all the memory you get with the M1, nor the CPU power. HDR is nice but I really don't view HDR content enough.

Using the 2017 12.9 still every day here. Needs to charge more often, but aside that, it's a champ!

I really think iPads last forever. I have posted a number of times about still using my 4th gen, and I just put a charge on my gen2 Mini. Both are locked to old versions of iPadOS but fine for many things.

I did sell my 2018 12.9 IPP in favor of a 13" M1 MBP. However, I still have my 2018 11" IPP with cellular and use it a lot every day.

My wife still uses her 1st gen 12.9 that I got her in 2015. I can’t believe how long it’s lasted with virtually zero problems
same with me, my 1st gen 12.9 (purchased early in 2017) is still very good for light or moderate use, i.e. web, video, mail, occasionally working on a textfile, making notes with the Pencil on a PDF, that sort of stuff. Even the battery holds surprisingly well!

I use my IPP 12.9 everyday. Every time i think about upgrading i just end up talking myself out of it. The 2018 is still such a capable device! how about you all?

Still use my 2017 IPP 12.9 daily. I simply can't justify the expense of a newer iPad Pro, there are a lot of newer hardware features that would be nice to have but aren't need to have for me at the moment. I'm sure if I actually did get a newer model I'd appreciate the upgrades but that just isn't going to happen for now. I'm just glad that my 2017 continues to provide great value, I'm certainly getting my money's worth out of this thing.

I’m here: feel really nice with 12.9 2018 (pdf and ebooks reading, web surfing, streaming and some papers production) and I am not going to plan an update yet.

I’m still using my 2018 6th Gen base iPad and it still works perfectly doing what I want it to do. When it stops doing that I will buy a new one, which model it will be will depend on what I will need it for at the time.
We sometimes forget that the whole range is pretty awesome.

Don't upgrade.

I bought the M1 iPad Pro because my 2018 is always blacking out and coming back on. After I bought the M1, my 2018 started to work properly again, and I'm still using the 2018 over the M1 model.

I can't sell the 2018 because it has many problems. I can't sell the M1 because I know the 2018 will start malfunctioning again once the M1 is gone.

I had one and gave it to my son for school and he loves it. Uses it with a Magic Keyboard for all of his work and assignments and he also has an Apple Pencil. I debated getting an M1 but ended up getting another one from the refurbished store.

Both work flawlessly and are still super fast. Great device and just don't see the need to upgrade.

I was looking forward to the 2021 iPad until it launched and I realised that there wasn't a single thing I could do on the new machine that I couldn't already do on the 2018. HDR is a nice to have, but not enough for me.

It's not speed that I want. What I want to see is a more functional iPad OS and Apps, a lower weight and a more comfortable shape to hold. None of which have yet been addressed.

Other than the mini-Led display the 2018 and 2020 iPads hold up well. Yes, the M1 is faster than the A12X (or A12Z) but how many folks would actually notice the difference in real world use? Perhaps a few folks who are actually doing some processor demanding tasks, but the A12X remains a very power processor in the context of a Tablet. USB-C is nice but probably not a deal maker or breaker for most of us. Improved cameras? I could see the mini led displaying being a big draw for some folks but other differences seem pretty trivial for most users.

2018 12.9 is my daily driver. I’ve had opportunity to replace it, even through my business, but not a need. I’m interested in seeing what Apple does with the 2022 12.9.

I'll replace my 2018 iPad Pro based around 7nm process A12X chip by 2025.

By then it would use a 2nm process M3 chip. A chip more powerful and power efficient than today's M1 Max largely due to its die shrink.

Base model will probably get 256GB storage.

Use my 2015 IPP 12.9 every single day......:p

Only downside (for me) is storage, I only got the 32gb model, could really do with more space.
Next one I get will have much bigger capacity, but just not needed yet.
