Now this is what is going to make the ipad sale even more. Now what is going to happen is Hp, Dell toshbia are all going to put tablets out that run android os now what is going to happen is people are going to be like what should i get what is better and buying something that should be simple is going to be hard. Also lets not forget all the cheap tablets that will come out running android.

Probably a lot of tablets will run Android. Besides the iPad, Android-based tablets, and Windows 7 Starter based tablets, there really is no margin for custom OS based tablets to succeed.

my point is android based tablets will flood the market.
You actually make a good point. People are going to realize pretty quickly that a desktop-class OS is a bad idea for a touch-based tablet device. So that's going to mean only iPad and Android-based tablets will be effective in the broad consumer market. A number of PMPs already run Android in this space. Since Google builds ZERO of them, Apple's gestalt-based experience will take off, as it has with iPod and iPhone.

There was an article on Engadget yesterday that talked about 50-something ARM-based tablets coming to market. iPad is ARM-based, but will be the only one to run OSX. So... 49 Androids to compete with iPad?? I like those odds. ;)

iPad doesn't run OSX

Dell + HP + 10 others don't have the market that Apple has with their devices.

There might be 30 Android tablets all running a splintered version of Android and maybe they will sell 2 million tablets.

Apple will sell 2 Million a quarter..

So? I'm guessing windows will try to flood the market too - that's competition.

Apple will either succeed or fail, since no android or apple "tablet" is out on the market yet, its really premature to discern what's going to happen.

Outside of phones and iPods Dell & HP sell about 3x more PCs/Laptops then Apple does. Apple has a good following but don't doubt the muscle HP can put behind a product. You may not like them but don't count them out of any fight.

Depending on what you define as a tablet there are already Android tablets out there. Don't expect them to be running vastly different builds, more like directing you to a mfgr based store vs to the android market, but it will not take long for that to be "corrected".

This is really a good time to be a tech geek, between the smart phone battle & the soon to be tablet battle all the competition should be nothing but good for us.
