Exactly. My 5,3 did have this in 2012 or so, ended up damaging the ribbon cable and shorting the screen. It has however been rock solid (on that front) ever since. Many thousands of times (with the exception of some old models which haven't been produced in a long time that were known to have premature hinge failure). There is no exact number that we know about.

My 2012 MBP has not had any issues, and while its no longer a daily driver, I did fire it up a month or two and everything still works.I know there is a flat cable that connects the mother board and the display, what is the expected life based on open/close cycles, before it gets broken?
NOTE: Using a MacBook Pro 16 M1
My 4 yr old MacBook pro — that cost €2000 has just had the pink stripes of death — quote for replacement screen is €739. My previous macbook lasted 8 years.
