Hello everyone,

This is my first post, just want to say hi! Great forum by people who are passionate about their Apple products!

I went to an Apple store yesterday and saw and felt the Ipad for the first time, I really like it! It was sold out but I reserved a 16GB WIFI model for pick up later.

I plan to use my Ipad for e-mails, browsing the internet and for MSN (and QQ)...

At the Apple Store when I tested the Ipad...

** I noticed slight hestitation when I go from one web page to the next, and occasionally it will freeze and i have to push the main menu button to go back to the main page, did it happen to you? Was it because I had too many application open at the same time or was I going too fast?

** How do I install MSN on my Ipad? I use MSN quite a bit, is it possible to use my bluetooth keyboard for inputting text on the ipad. I find the virtual keyboard a bit hard to use, I have an iphone and using my thumb was a little easier.

Sorry if the questions were asked previously, I am newer to Apple products, thanks for your help!

The lag was probably due to all the other devices using the same wireless connection. Blazing fast on my iPad at home. It was not due to too many things open at once since the iPad only uses one app at a time. Even if multiple pages are in the background, it only focuses on what you have open.

As for MSN, I would HIGHLY suggest an app called IM+

It handles most common instant messengers including MSN.

Yes you can connect your bluetooth to your iPad.

I use IM+ for MSN, you can connect your hotmail, yahoo, aol, facebook messengers on it plus some others I dont remember the top of my head.

Thanks!

Thank you for the quick-response Vic-Viper and RunOverProducti!

I will probably have more questions later on once my ipad arrives!

Have a great weekend!

how MSN work with Safari on an Ipad

I will be picking up my ipad at the Apple Store tomorrow, I have a question on how MSN (IM+) works with Safari on an Ipad:

When browsing with my Safari open, how would I see if my contacts are online and reply to their messages? My main use for the ipad will be to surf and to use MSN, i want to be able to browse online and switch to MSN when someone send me a message and loging-on. I know the current version of the ipad OS does not allow for multitasking, can you let me know your experience with using MSN (IM+ or other similar software) and Safari at the same time? Thanks everyone!

As far as I'm aware, once you switch from MSN to safari you wont get notifications of new messages etc. You'll only be able to focus on one at a time.

You'll need to wait until OS 4.0 to be able to do what you want.

You can of course use MSN Messenger in Safari, but as soon as you close the browser you become offline. And you get no status updates of your contacts without refreshing the window...

IM+ is a killer app, even if it costs some bucks. Beside MSN Messenger, it contains push informations for a self-defined time that pop up if you have closed IM+ to do your mails or browse the web or whatever else you do with your iPad. Also, IM+ is able to manage your Skype, Twitter, Facebook, AIM, Yahoo, Google Talk, ICQ and MySpace instant messaging account, to name just the important ones :)

Really cool is that IM+ contains a small browser, so you can open up links your contacts may send you without leaving the app. Plus: if you buy it for the iPhone you also get the iPad version and vice versa.

I may sound like a IM+ marketing guy, but I am only an enthusiastic user of this app. I've also purchased Beejive in the past for my iPhone, but haven't used it since IM+. It's not available for the iPad anyway...

I hope that helps to make a choice!

Cheers, Lutz
