Leave your iPhone 6 on standby and check the battery in the morning. How much battery is drained?

6 percent. In my bedroom I have one bar of cellular signal which can't help, plus it's connected to my Apple Watch

I used to lose around 6% at night from a full charge, but after a complete restore as new (without using old backup), the phone stays at 100% throughout. Sleep time is around 8-10 hours for me.:p

Try leaving your phone at less than 100% overnight and report back your findings.

A fully charged iPhone will hang on at 100% until it hits 30-45 minutes of light usage. Probably could hang at 100% in standby for 10-15 hours easily. Maybe longer! Haven't been able to leave my phone alone for longer than that though! :)

With 9.0.1 I could leave a fully charged 6S+ in Airplane mode for 6-8 hours and it would remain showing 100% battery.
With 9.0.2 the same scenario leaves me with 99%. Not sure why that is.

Update: My 6S+ was fully charged when I put it into Airplane mode and this morning the battery meter read 98%. I immediately checked the usage stats and there was 2 mins of usage. Surely nothing could drain 2% of battery in 2 mins?? I've never had an iPhone lose more than 1% overnight in Airplane mode, and the vast majority of the time they're still reading 100%. What could be causing this? Is it a common occurrence on 9.0.2?

For me it depends. If I'm at 100%, it will be at 100% in the morning. However if I'm at 50%, I will be at like 45%. 25%? Around 15%-18% in the morning.

I would say that would be more realistic/accurate. Clearly after 6-8 hrs the battery cant be at 100%. That's impossible. So 99% may be more realistic number.

I updated to 9.1 and I'm back to the battery meter showing 100% after 6-7 hours in Airplane mode. This is how my iPhones have always acted over the years, so I'm not sure what was going on in 9.0.2

Charging a battery to its full capacity is a lengthy process because it must be careful not to over charge. Because it takes so long, to display the true percentage to the user would make them feel uncomfortable and cause them to ask why the last few percent take so long to charge. So it is common practice to display 100% even though it may only be, say 95%. Or, if we think sbout it the other way around, think of the battery being 105% but anything above 100% is not displayed.

This is why it's common for people to see their phone stick at 100% for a long time after a lengthy charge (say, overnight). It doesn't mean no battery is being used. The same will not happen if a user charges their phone and immediately unplugs it when it reaches 100%, as the battery won't be filled to its true capacity.

This is why one poster wanted people to test this starting from less than 100%, so that the drop overnight is a more accurate representation.

Yeah, there's no way that a phone left for hours could use zero battery power. However, if I fully charge an iPhone, any iPhone, and then put it into Airplane mode I expect the battery meter to stay showing 100% for several hours. Of course the drop to 99% once you start using the phone will come quicker the longer the phone was left in Airplane mode. The drop from a fully charged 100% to 99% is always the slowest increment to occur and historically takes between 30 and 40 minutes depending upon which apps you're using.

if I leave it in aero mode it would stay at 100% after 7 hrs of sleep.
In normal mode it would drop 1-2%.

Well, my phone is 6 Plus, but when it's at 100% it stays 100% for a very long time. I've seen it hold that 100% even after over 24 hours of standby. But when it's at like 50% or something before I go to sleep (basically anywhere not 100%), I lose around 3%~5% depending on how long I sleep. I usually sleep around 8-10 hours, sometimes over that. Which makes sense because my signal strength inside the building is pretty bad. 2 bars regularly, 3 if lucky, drops to 1 more often than I'd like to see.
