Well I was hoping to get a 14.1 inch mbp but the 13inch is not fast enough for me to upgrade coming from a late 2016 mbp. So I am stuck with the 16. Originally I was hoping the 16 would be the same size as the 15. How much of a difference is it between the two?

Is it really noticeable?
Is it super thick ?
The 15 now is super portable, I remember the 17 being waaaay to big, is it closer to the 15 in size or 17?
Will I notice it more on my lap?

15" 2018 dimensions: 1.55cm x 34.93cm x 24.07cm - weight: 1.83kg
16" 2019 dimensions: 1.62cm x 35.79cm x 24.59cm - weight: 2.00kg
15" 2015 dimensions: 1.80cm x 35.89cm x 24.71cm - weight: 2.04kg
17" 2011 dimensions: 2.50cm x 39.30cm x 26.70cm - weight: 2.99kg

So yeah, I don't know. Only you can make the decision.

It’s imperceptible. It’s hard to spot the difference when they’re side by side or on your lap.

If measured diagonally across the display you gain about 600 thousands of an inch in size. It's also a smudge thicker to accommodate for the redesigned thermal architecture. But it's barely noticeable.

It's way smaller than the 15" from the time the 17" was around, almost identical in footprint to the 2012-2015 retina 15" but thinner.
