I've just gotten a used XR to keep at home as a smart home remote.
I've never gone to the 'max' sizes and always stuck with the X, 11, 12 pro. I'm thinking of going 14 pro max rather than 14 pro.

I have a few weeks to get a feel for the XR - wondering how much bigger the 14 pro max would be in terms of width. I've always thought the pro max was a little too big to text with single handed, or in cramped public transport spaces BUT I'm getting older, my eyes aren't getting better but I also am a video producer and photographer so the larger screen would be great - just thinking if I could get used to the XR then it would be a good indicator of how I'll operate with the forthcoming Pro max.

Thoughts?

The public transport you use must be extremely crowded for your phone size to make a difference! You would very soon get used to using a bigger screen is my guess, and at 6.1" diagonal the XR screen is not exactly tiny. It's bigger than the 6/7/8 Plus screens that were Apple's biggest phones when current, and the same size as their standard phones now. As for one-handed texting, yes, it is awkward with a big phone, but TBH it's awkward with any phone and most people I see hold the phone in one hand and jab at the screen with the other.

It’s crowded and if I need to hold on with one hand - at the moment I can pretty much use my 12 pro easily one-handed.

I was more wondering how much bigger the pro max screens feel compared to the XR - because I have an XR at home to play with.
