Just wondering if you are data hogs just because it is "unlimited" (5gb soft cap). I am under 2GB, but 3g service SUCKS in San Francisco.

I've asked this before, and I have to ask again. Where does AT&T state that they have a "soft" limit of 5GB data? Or has anyone actually been warned by AT&T by using more than 5 GB data in a month?

As for my data usage, I use way less than 1 GB per month. I get Wi-Fi in many of the places I use my iPhone.

I am just using that 5gb "soft cap" as a reference point. I have not seen or heard from AT&T about a 5gb cap. Many/all carriers are doing 5gb cap on all tethering plans.

62 mb.... I also use a lot of WiFi, but that will change when school starts back up... damn dorm rooms.

Under 4 GB for me, and this is since day 1 the first iPhone was released. Assuming the usage tracking is accurate. I did have one replacement 8 months into my 1st device and not sure when I migrated over if that usage counter was moved?

then why even add it to your post? you should edit/delete that section

163 MB since July 28th. I don't really use much data, so the 500MB plan I have is perfect. That, and I tend to use a lot of WiFi. Oh, and I haven't had any signal for a couple days because I'm stuck out in the boonies, so that's great.

Total to date or monthly? Looking at AT&T's website, I use between 300-500 MB per month, but I use WiFi at home.

5GB is a myth, stop spreading it.

I have a customer using an AT&T data account and it stopped working. We called to find out and he was over 5G by about 1G and had $700 in overages and they shut him down to keep the charges from going up.

Was that on a tethering/data card plan?

For laptops, there is a monthly 5GB limit. For phones, there is not UNLESS you have a tethering add on.

I only keep track of data monthly..just to see how much I use in a month.

It runs around 4 gigs every month :)
