The new M2 MBA is missing an extra SSD chip that was present on the M1 MBA and this makes it a bit incorrect to compare the "base" configurations of the M1 and M2 MBAs.

To get a true 'apples to apples' comparison, I think it's better to compare the M1 MBA with 512GB with the M2 MBA with 512GB, with all other specs at the lowest available. This will allow us to see what the real improvements actually have been and whether it's worth it to upgrade.
Did anyone here buy an M1 MBA with 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM and 7-Core GPU (lowest available) when it first came out? If so, how much did you pay, ignoring educational pricing and discounts? $1200 + tax?
The M2 MBA with 512GB SSD, 8GB RAM and 8-Core GPU (lowest available) is currently selling for $1400 + tax.
