how much difference in 1.83 to 2.0 to 2.16?

So i'm trying to decide on which new Macbook to get and I'm just curious how much difference is there in the processor speeds?

Were mostly an iLife, Mail household. I occasionally edit home movies,but its mostly iPhoto and Safari usage. Will I see that much difference between the 3 processor speeds available in the Macbook and Macbook Pro series?

I plan to max the ram out to 2GB anyways.
 
The processor speed isn't usually a big factor.

Larger HD, Superdrive, screen size, backlit keyboard, etc. are larger factors.

Also a choice between an upgraded GPU vs. the slower Intel integrated will do more for you than a faster CPU.

Don't worry about MHz, buy based on other things.

The better GPU will help more as Apple moves normal OS acceleration routines back off the CPU and over to the GPU -- like they did during the PPC era.

Which should be almost back up the the PPC era with the 10.5 release.

I think a 1.83 Macbook would suit your needs. If you just use the iLife Apps and normal web browsing/emailing usage you'll be fine with that. I think a MBP would be overkill, but I'm sure a higher-end Macbook would be fine for you too.
 
I would say the MacBook would be more than fine, it would be an excellent choice - very powerful with dual core processors.
 
The "low end" (which would destroy my 1.33GHz G4 :rolleyes: ) macbook would easily suit your needs, but the midrange one has superdrive and the 2.0 ghz core duo which means its easily worth the extra money over the low end model.

I think the macbook pro is a bit of an overkill

thats true, the difference in performance will be minimal at beeest, wouldnt worry about it, if you don't need the superdrive save the money and go for the 1.83ghz...thats what I did;)
