Such as somebody working on frameworks or developing some other thing for iOS? Or really any development job in general. How much an hour?

Yes, hopefully so. Do you think it's the same thing for everyone? I'll try to ask them tomorrow. Who should I call, though? The headquarters?

Its probably not the *exact* same for everyone, although out of college its probably relatively close.

Also, you are obviously still green so I will clue you in on something, even people who apply for specific jobs rarely get a firm number until AFTER they have been extended the offer. Its just how it works(there are exceptions, but not many)

The most you will get by calling Apple(or almost any other company for that matter) is that they will say the salaries are "competitive", if you even get that.

So essentially a junior programming job ? With 0 experience (I'd suggest working on a few open source projects during college so you have some work for your portfolio to show as actual real-world experience of programming as part of a team and inside the boundaries of a well defined project) you can expect about 35k$ to 40k$.

That's if you land a programming job straight out of college. Most CS students end up first in Integration or Q&A jobs, to learn the "ropes" before moving on to programming.

I got a programming job straight out of college and started at much higher than $40k, and this was in St. Louis, where cost of living is cheap, and salaries reflect that.

Maybe I got lucky, but I would hope that Apple would start college hires off at something better than $40k, especially in one of the most expensive places in the US to live.

Of course where you live has an impact on salaries. I was discussing my own experience which is based in and around Montreal and Quebec. They pay us peanuts around here. :( I know guys who were intermediate sys admins 15 years ago that made more than I do today as a senior sysadmin.

As for getting hired straight to a code monkey position, it's very possible, but don't expect to do so in a big company where you have to work up the ladders a bit more (they promote internally more than they hire externally for higher positions). It's still very possible, but quite a bit harder. Getting in the door as an intern helps you there though.

Again, all based on my experience in and around Montreal/Quebec.

I'd think it would vary wildly depending on the position, how impressive your college degree is and age. Say someone got a BA in Philosophy at 45 and applying for a job as sanitation officer (janitor) is not going to get anywhere near the same as say a 14 year old with triple PhD.'s in Physics, Psychology and Computer Engineering from MIT working on the next intuitive GUI for Apple.

I don't know what I'm going to master in college, that's actually about 3 school years away for me. I will and do have a lot of experience in objective-c because of the iOS apps I make, so I'm sure three more years writing this code before I get to college, and then continuing to do so in college will make me very advanced in this language. Additionally, for what it's worth for the position I want, I am currently certified in Snow Leopard Server and plan to grab a few more certifications along the way. Thanks for everyone's help!

Would you say they make at least $35 an hour? Geniuses at the Apple Store, I heard, make $17 per hour, and no offense, they don't do anything to technical. What do you think?

Who cares about the $ they pay hehehe. I'd pay to work there!

Pay @ Apple varies, just like any company. If you were hired to work retail @ an Apple store, maybe $15 an hour. If hired on as an new engineer, I'd venture to say 65-70k starting.
