Rocketing through the sky!
i have had my 12" pb since late july and its not that i dont like it, because I do. It's great for taking notes in class, surfing the net, playing with itunes and imovie, etc. My BIG beef with it is that i cant use it for more than an hour without the fan going on (making a lot of noise in class) and it actually feels a bit TOO small (never thought i would say that). I regret not buying the 15" at the time but it was like a $800 difference between the 1.67ghz 15" and the 12" i got with a superdrive. Well now the difference is only 300 bucks (cdn) with my educational discount and i am considering switching to the 15". Problem is I dont know how much I could sell my little 12" for... it only have one little 1cm scratch on the underside and i have all the software etc. for it. I have checked ebay but i am afraid to sell stuff on there (have had lots of trouble buying from it in the past) I'm not commited to selling it, just entertaining the thought. Any advice? thanks!

#1. You are saying in a few points you like the portability. You might regret switching to a 15"
#2. Have you tried a heat mat to take away some heat and *maybe* the fan won't come on as often. Also, the 15" is pretty hot and I've never heard its fan (probably bigger and slower, not small and whirry).
#3. Considered an external display for home use?

They are just a few questions to ask yourself before plunging into the switch. As a rough guess, you might get 2/3-3/4 of what you payed for it now. Unless you go on ebay, where you'll get less.

hmm i do like the portablility, but the 15" isnt that much bigger (and compared to my friends Dell 6000, its micro sized), i dont know what a heat mat is but anything that i have to bring along with me to use in class etc. just makes it one more thing to lose when i am running for the door after class is over ;) i wouldnt know where else to sell it besides ebay! but thanks! as i said i am not sold on selling (har har) quite yet but the fan issue is forcing me to hardly use it aside from notes. I can't use the cd drive because after i am done the fan is still going full pull, i cant use more heavy programs because they only spin the hd more and heat it up more and make the fan come on more. I use an external monitor at home, but wth my PC i dont really need to use my laptop all the time at home. The noise issue is a pity because i love the lil guy otherwise.

Okay. Maybe you should just live with it until intel powerbooks, and see what they have to offer :)
The REV D powerbook 15" is definitely one fine machine though, with REV E's even better. Though once again, if you're not seriously thinking about selling now, intel might be the time to buy.
