I am very much looking forward to this feature as I'm currently using dropbox with about 3gb of free space. Does iCloud Drive give you more free space? Or does it use your existing 5gb which I hope not, because that's almost full with all my iCloud backups from my iDevices.

They haven't mentioned an increase in free space so it's most likely still 5gb but the new price for 20gb is only $12/year.
5 GB was a joke before iCloud Drive, but now it's just ridiculous :/
I have 38 GB of free space with DropBox so I can't see myself switching any time soon. It's a real shame, because the whole syncing with iOS devices would be really handy

The same old. You could consider having your backups on your Mac instead of in iCloud.
Personally I won't be using it. The 50Gb I have free from Dropbox is, well, an order of magnitude more!
I have 11 gb on Dropbox and 48gb on onedrive. I only keep Dropbox around because it has a larger single file size limit. If iCloud drive has a >4gb per file size limit then goodbye Dropbox. I will probably get the 200gb deal to start with. The only other place I would store data is box.com which is what we put our clients on.

What is the difference between iCloud drive and dropbox? I'm in the group with DB that has tons of free space and it already syncs across all my devices.

I'm keen to see how this works with iPhoto/Aperture. If i could use this to back up my images and also have them accessible across my devices would blow my socks off.
Personally i'm hoping that the photo's on the new Photo app will be able to be stored on the phone and mac rather than just uploaded to iCloud. I prefer to have my photo's on my device. I'm not sure what the price for extra storage will be for us in the UK.
Not everyone has that many friends. The basic Dropbox is still 2 GB.
At any rate, I'm going for the 200GB plan. At only 4$/month that's a no brainer for me. I believe DB charges 20$ for that.
So what everyone's saying is that, your backup, iCloud photos, iCloud drive, all in one 5 GB scheme?
And, does the iCloud backup still have camara roll backup of photos taken, and uploaded to iCloud stream....

You're complaining about $12/year for 200gb? Seriously?
It's 20 additional GB, so for $0.99 a month you actually get 25 GB of storage.
So it looks like it really is only the same 5 GB for everything, and not an extra free 5 GB for iCloud Drive... Damn you apple. Well, I guess time to consider a paid plan then.
