I have a 256Gb HD for SL and Windows operating system, I'm think allocating the same amount of space on a 1Tb external HD for Time Machine backups.

Do you guys think its enough? Or should I make it 500Gb for Time Machine?

I think Time Machine only back up the used space on the drive, and not the entire drive.

Also will Time Machine backup Bootcamp part of the drive?

Thanks

Well if you have a 256GB hard drive i'd recommend atleast twice as much for time machine backups. The more space you give Time Machine the farther back you can restore your documents from, so there is never really "too much"

Also, it will only back up HFS+ Partitions so wont back up your Windows Bootcamp setup

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll format third of the 1TB HD for time machine. Since my OSX part of the drive is only 120Gb, 330 GB for time machine should be enough.
