How much iPad storage are you currently using? Check 2 items: 1) the storage amount you are using and, 2) whether or not you are using all your capacity.

I’m a big music and photo hoarder so that takes up most of my space. I’d like to do the 1TB model but the iPad storage pricing is an insanely bad value.

Not out of storage yet, but mostly movies and music, plus a couple big games. Forced to turn on optimised storage though, cause photo library is reaching 300GB, and my iPad only have 512GB to spare.

I have 128GB, usually sits around 50-70 free, now its about 100+GB used because I loaded some offline TV shows and movies onto it during travel. I havent done much on it really, aside from browsing and Apple TV/Netflix/Youtube/Spotify.

Tho, I wouldnt mind 256GB model for daily use or even better, 1TB model, if there would be use of 16GB of RAM, but thats totally different topic altogether.

Totally depends where I am. If I’m at home, it’s nearly empty, and mostly sits unused (256GB 2017 iPad Pro). If I’m traveling, I load it up with movies and the like, almost full, so I don’t have to rely on having an internet connection.

I could get by with a 32GB iPad, really, if it never left the house since all of my content is either streaming services or hosted on my Plex server. I have zero interest in integrating any iPad into actual work so storing that kind of data and files is not a concern.

Using iCloud for music, photos, messages, and iCloud Drive has not only eliminated my storage anxiety… it syncs all my devices (2 iPads, 3 Macs, and an iPhone) FAR better than how I’d done it previously. My 256GB iPad routinely has almost 200GB free, which is excellent for when I’m traveling and load up a few videos for the flight.

47GB of 128GB

I may have plenty of free space right now, but I could easily plow through the extra after a day of taking photos. Next iPad will likely be 512GB So I can store music and photos locally as well.

I always keep mine loaded with comics. Now that I've upgraded to 1TB, I loaded some favorite movies there, too. Aside from travel, it helps a lot when there's no power or internet.

I have a 64GB iPad Air 5th Gen and it is currently using 24.84GB, optimized photos and storage (200GB iCloud+), and it has 60 apps on it.

64GB mini 6 and 256GB M1 Pro. 47GB available for mini 6 don’t know atm for 256GB Pro but it’s a lot.

I’m currently using 61GB of 512GB. I have only had my iPad for 2 months. My apps are taking up the majority of my storage.

So using this amount of storage, do you backup locally or to iCloud?

I’m using over 600GB on my iPad and my iCloud backup is just 3GB.

Only user data gets backed up to iCloud. iTunes movies, apps, etc. just get re-downloaded upon restore.

Varies. I often load a bunch of media when traveling but rarely go much over 128. 128 would be tight for me but 256 is ample for y uses.
