iPod How much iPod storage do you need?

Seriously, I have thousands and thousands of books, and CDs; shelf space is provided, and books still migrate to tables and sofas, tumbling because there is no further room for them. Likewise, CDs have invaded places where they had no right to be….

More seriously, my current storage needs in my iPod have just exceeded 80GB; the iTunes library is clocking in at around 78GB, which means that the only iPod that can hold all that lot is the 160GB (or the older 120GB).

So, as of now, I need at least 100GB; given that I still buy CDs, I expect that to grow. So, for now, a minimum of 120GB to 160GB would be nice; 240GB I would jump at, if it were available. And, if you asked me whether or not I would consider succumbing to a 1TB drive iPod, the answer would (probably) be a sad little affirmative…..

Sky's the limit. Instead of CDs, I'm buy DVD and Bluray audio discs whenever possible.

I know people think it's just stream and resync, but that's not always possible when you have an urge to play that one song and you're in the middle of the wilderness with no Internet and no computer.

I cherish all the space I can get and I love that Apple has a 128GB iPhone now, so I can load up a lot of my lossless music instead of having to resort to down-converted media and carrying as second media player around.

Back in the early days of MTV, I'm talking late '70's when all they did was play videos, David Bowie did a promo. The tag line was "too much is never enough". I believe that logic applies here.

Right now I'm able to fit my whole audio library on my 80GB iPod video with about 1-2 GB left, but I've got a 160GB Classic that's decently full since I added some movies on it. But with it I have room to grow. Just got it a couple months back, got lucky there.

128GB would do, but I don't want it running iOS. And I really like having a click wheel in the car so I can change tracks without looking. My iPod is just connected via a 3.5mm aux cable to my head unit. Nothing fancy, but effective. Charge it about once a week.

Well, obviously, I would succumb to a 128SSD drive in an iPod; indeed, I would happily buy an iPod (resurrected classic, or wonderfully accomplished iTouch) if it came with 256GB SSD as an option……..actually, were anyone to produce a device with the fabled 512GB SSD, I'd cheerfully sign up for that, too….I have no doubt that all of that space could be put to very good use - not least as a home for my vast and burgeoning music collection...

I could make due with 512 gb ssd but would like a 1 tb ssd.

I personally get by just fine with my 16GB iphone and iPad but there isn't enough room for the music that I want so I have a 16GB iPod nano 7 for my most essential music. Now I can get by with the cheaper 16GB model iphones ipads and stuff but I do have to sacrifice some stuff...if I wanted all of my apps and games and music (just about 600-800 songs is what is most necessary for me but my music library is way way way more than that) I could probably use a 32 or 64GB device. If I wanted to have my movies too (probably around 20) I'd probably need a 128GB device but that probably still wouldn't hold my entire collection of music and movies...

I'm currently using a 16GB nano as my main ipod, but a 32GB nano would be ideal as my nano is feeling pretty cramped nowadays.
