I'm wondering how much of an update would a 2020 iMac be over a base iMac Pro?

I'm considering updating my wife's photography iMac Pro.

If I went to a 10-core i9, 32gb of RAM, and a 5700 XT with 16gb of memory, would she see a noticeable upgrade in lightroom?

Based on personal experience and knowing what is GPU-accelerated in the Adobe suite—I don’t think so.

I wonder if the iMac Pro is quieter than the new iMacs.
If the same fans/pipes are used and if we are talking about under load with the new chips (CPU and GPU) power draw, the iMac Pro should still be quieter. We’ll know for sure soon. Several of us who have used the iMac Pro have ordered the new iMac today.

If quiet is your main concern, you don’t need x86 virtualization, and you can wait—the iMacs with Apple Silicon may be much quieter.

For editing still photos -- even large ones -- I doubt there will be "much of a noticeable difference" at all...
