How much performance improvement will I see if I upgrade from my current 1.25 GHz G4 Mac Mini (512 MB RAM) to the lowest end MacBook? Also, especially for apps like MS Office and Photoshop, will their performance improve, or actually degrade because of Rosetta?

if you are a basic run of the mill computer user then you will notice a boost with the intel line, but the difference wont be too monumental and you may regret it if its not that much better. if you are a power user then the upgrade will be sublime, much much faster with video editing and the likes.

Performance in general should be noticeable quicker. But in regards to running M$ Office or Photoshop it will be rather pokey.

Gary King, if you are looking for some added performance for your 1.25GHz G4 Mac Min, consider maxing out the RAM in your system. :)

Yes office would be usable. However, photoshop would be slower then on your current system.
