how much pressure do you need to close the lid?

my brand new mbp, just out of the packaging, it seems it takes a nice bit of pressure to close the lid. when i press the open button, it pops up about half an inch. this seems like im actually flexing the lid and thats what makes it pop up so far. is this normal, and as it gets use will the hinges losen or something?
