How much space should you allow for Windows XP?

How to count the GB's for Vista and other programs?

I'm not sure on how to count the GB or bits to partition off the right amount on my mac for installation for Vista. I'm want to add office, photoshop, coffeecup (FTP), snagit and easy image program. For there are no Mac ver for these programs. I need them for our website businesses. Any suggestions, thanks

I usually give 7 (which was once Vista) about 80 GB of the 250. It's plenty for the OS, random apps, and several games.

i would suggest no more than 32 GB and that is being a little generous

why would you have personal files like this stored on your xp partition? if you keep it under 32GB you can use the FAT file system to be able to access both, however i would suggest just using the windows OS for applications and continue to manage your personal files in your OS of choice, which if your running OS X, i would assume is OS X

hey im putting win 32 on my iMac and i need a little help please..
i get the OPS installed and running and when i try to get he drivers running with the Mac OSX installation disc my mouse and keyboard stop working

I'd leave 20GB or so. Possibly 12 at a minimum. Office is somewhat of a pig when it comes to disk space.

Try using folder sharing or something like that and you won't need as much space, just for the applications.

Don't know what kind of email you receive, but mine many times have large attachments which is guess is not the norm. I guess like all things, it's a matter of personal preference and use. Boesky...... you'll have to decide.

Windows XP itself takes up 10 GB's. For applications, a total of no more than 15 GB.

A good rule of thumb, estimate what you need and double it. 50GB is generally enough for most people. Note that a modern game can easily use 10GB+. Also, if you use ISO images instead of carrying the game disc, thats another 8GB, Windows needs a few gigs for XP, much more for Vista and Windows 7. Don't underestimate space you need.

Spare what you can, otherwise use something like Paralles, VMware Fusion, or Virtual Box that lets you set a 'drive' that grows in size so it doesn't use up your storage as fast.

I gave, I think, 5 GB, maybe 10 GB, for my XP partition. It was just the OS, however. I installed my games on an external HDD.
