I can't decide which one to get - can you help me make up my mind?

Note: I use iCloud for music, photos, etc.

Thx

:)

I went with 1TB because I wanted to fully load all of my games, music library, a solid assortment of videos, photo library, and still have leftover room for apps, video editing, and other files that will come and go.

Start by considering your use-cases. Do you primarily store things in the cloud or locally? How much storage capacity do you currently have & how much available space? Will there be any changes in circumstance (education, job, new hobby, etc) that would affect the amount of storage you need?

Ultimately, you want to err on the side of having too much storage. I could have probably gotten by with 512GB, but I wanted added future-proofing.

If you are storing music and movies I’d go 256. My use case is streaming videos so it’s pretty simple for me. I had the 64gb 12.9 2018 and was fine. Now I have the 128 2020 iPad pro. My iPhone is my main device so I go with the larger storage.

I had ordered the IPP 12.9 2020 128gb (which is more than enough for me), don't need much gb because most of my personal stuff are stored on icloud. I don't find the reason to get anything larger and pay the extra costs!

I agreed, IPP I went with the base line, but for iPhone, I would get a large storage.

I went with a smaller 8plus 64gb 2 yrs ago and that was an mistake. Annoying having to manage the storage on the iPhone. Then hitting your max storage on a trip and having to offload pictures so you can take pics lol. The iPad Pro 64gb was no problem for me. Only thing I have on the iPad that takes any storage is really pubg Mobile video game. Otherwise it’s screenshots and streaming apps.

I had encountered the same situation as you. Before I used to buy the iPhone with the least gb, and I always encountering storage issues. Spending $100 for storage that's probably 4 time the storage of the base is worth it. The usage between iPad and iPhone are pretty different. iPhone is always with you so taking pictures, videos and doing other storage hogging is necessary to get the bigger storage if you can afford it. But iPad, to me is more of either for work, school or lounging around, so I wouldn't utilized all the storage on the current base IPP (128gb).

It depends your usage plan. Mine is 256gb, mostly for reading research papers and watching YouTube / Netflix. Still less than 50% used.

Went with 512GB for future proofing. Plus when I travel I like to load up a bunch of movies or shows so I want to make sure I have enough room for that and don’t have to “manage” my storage just to make them fit.

I went with 512gb because my previous iPad (IPP 10.5) was also 512gb and I never had an issue with space. I could most likely get away with 128 or 256, but there are times like vacations where I load up the iPad with movies and books to read so the extra space is valuable. The space may not be needed for most day to day stuff but when you go on a road trip or air flight having those movies and whatever sure helps a lot. I have also always thought it best to get the most you could afford at the time of purchase.

I got the 64gb. Between my 2tb ICloud storage and my unlimited data plan I have no use for paying for extra on board storage. I am able to stream everything in need to and store everything else in the cloud to be synced to my other devices.

Did you get the 2018 iPad Pro?

Buy the most space you can afford.

Have to disagree on this one. I can afford a crap ton of the 1TB iPad Pros, but is it a good use of my money? No. 64GB has always been enough for me and so the base 128GB for the 2020 Pros will be complete overkill.

I am having this dilemma as well. I currently have a 1st gen 12.92 iPad Pro with 128 gb storage. And till today, I have around 60 gb free space left, even tho I have a lot of drawing, pdf softwares installed in it. I do not use cloud storage at all. Videos and Music are on streaming tho so i am not installing them either.

If i change for the 2020 iPad Pro, which I am still trying to decide ( as i wanted to wait for the A14X model ) , I know that if i buy the 128 gb, for now it would be enough. But I am thinking if more pro apps come to the scene of iPad and in the future the apps may grow bigger as well, so if i think my use case of today, 128 is more than enough, but if i think of future proofing for new apps that may be bigger, may be 256 would be better.

Just a question to those who maxed out the used storage in their iPad Pros. When you almost finish the free space, does your ipad pro start to slow down?

Can anyone explain how I get a “not enough memory” when importing photos off as sd card? I have an 2018 iPad Pro with 512GB and well over 100GB available. Also have 2TB of iCloud space. I’m constantly having to delete to make room (And I have loads of free room/memory).
Thanks

For me I went with 512gb again when I bought the 2018 IPP back in February. When I was using the 10.5" 2016 IPP it was nice having the extra space even though I didn't need it most of the time.

I could get by with 128GB if I was careful but given the ipad is my main machine I would rather not do that so I go for 256GB. I have iCloud photo library but I also store all pictures on the iPad just to be extra safe.
