I'm all ready to purchae my Macbook, but I have a that above question... ;)

If I don't get a 2.0 MB, what would I pay for an external question? Less than 100 maybe? Could I still use iDVD?

I don't particularly about the processor speed. 1 Gig of ram should definitely make up the "difference".

Thanks.

Yes, you can get an external burner for ~$100, Newegg has a Plextor on special right now for $99.

iLife '06 supports third party burners, but there is no compatibiity list, so it should work, but is not guaranteed to.

are you going to now the external now? or wait? if its now its just better to get the 2.0 so youdont have to worry about plugging the dvd burner, and extra wires..

If you can wait then look for rebabte deals u can get one cheap seen them as low as 40 for external.

SuperGoodDeal.com has the Plumax ACSU2 Lightscribe External USB 2.0 DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive for $99 - $40 coupon code S62L18547 - $20 rebate [Exp 6/30] = $39 with free shipping.
