I have seen plenty of posts about limited quantities of new iphone 4.0's at local walmarts, best buy, radioshack, etc. How much will they cost? I already have a contract with ATT if that matters at all.

It is same price and same contract rules are enforced. They are just 3 rd party retailers. If you already have a contract, then you must have gotten a phone not too long ago. You can sell your phone and use it to cover your costs.

Walmart may be a couple of $ cheaper, but not a lot. Radio Shack is probably the same prices as Best Buy, Apple and AT&T.

I think I read somewhere that Walmart might be 197/297. Saving two dollars is not worth dealing with walmart!

How does it work though? Do I just buy the iphone and leave? Or will I have to go through my contract stuff the store employee? Would I then need to take it to ATT or no?

They will have everything. They will input your information (like social security number and everything), and then tell you how much the phone will be (it is based upon your upgrade eligibility). You then pay and your contract date starts anew.

When you buy the phone in the electronics area at Wal-Mart when they ring you up they access ATT's system with your phone number. This will tell them what price to charge you $199/$299, $399/$499 or $599/$699. At that time it will update your ATT contract for 2 years if buying at the $199/$299 and $399/$499 level.
