So i got a macbook pro that was nosiy as hell. it actually gave me a headache within the hour and the only way to get rid of it was to lower the brighttness all the way down so that screen is completely black.

I took it back to the store and i will be getting a refund within the next few days, and I am thinking in going today or maybe next monday to get a new one at with a different retailer.

Now, when I returned my computer, the people at this store said that Apple might have made a mistake with the design of the 15" macbook pro and this sound was gonna be tough to get rid of, and that they will always have a high pitched buzzing sound coming out of the keyboard and then they started talking about frequencies and other crap.

Anybody else here having issues with the noise of the macbook pro?

I don't have any noise with mine, just tried adjusting the screen brightness all the way up and down as well as the keyboard backlight. Only time I heard anything was when I put me ear right up to it and I could hear the fans humming a tiny bit.

If it was really that bad you just of just got a bad one.

Mine only gets noisy if I'm really putting it through the paces.

It'll really get hot if I'm playing Oblivion in Bootcamp plugged into the wall, and then the fans are pretty audible.

It's probably a bad inverter. This was a problem on the first generation mbps that shipped in spring. An audible buzz appeared when the screen brightness was anywhere between max and zero. It's something they repair if you send it in though. Of course, if you have just bought it, it's easier to just get a new one.

The salesmen were wrong, and your MBP is defective - take it back. My MBP is absolutely silent with normal use (Safari, iTunes, Word, Entourage and Quicktime running). Fans can't even be heard until I'm ripping/encoding with Handbrake or MacTheRipper, or with gaming (WoW) - even then, they're not as loud as the baseline fan noise with my 1GHz TiBook that this has replaced!

Get a replacement - you'll be thrilled!

:D

I don't hear much of anything while I'm sitting in my room. If I put it through a lot of tasks and a game, I will hear the fans, but not at a level where they bother me. :)

can only hear fans on mine after using a lot of cpu power. Its super quiet compared to my old Dell lappy which sounded like a plane taking off when the fans decided to kick in at 90c.
