And how often? I sometimes use a Clorox wipe, but I have a small uv light cleaner I will usually toss my stuff in for 10-15 minutes. Also use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe stuff down. Maybe I’m beginning to be a germaphobe, but I hate the idea Of using my phone without cleaning it in bed after a long day at work and the gym! Just curious on what others do.

I make sure my hands are clean before I use my phone as well as afterward. Using that approach, one doesn't have to go to the lengths you do.

Agreed. Hand washing is by far the easiest and most effective. If one doesn’t have access to soap and water, isopropyl alcohol hand sanitizer will suffice. Although in my experience it isn’t something you want rubbing on the oleophobic coating.

I only disinfect my phone and case when im about to put on a new case. Other than that i make sure my hands are clean before i touch it. I already have OCD before the pandemic so yeah.

Gosh, I’d never be able to answer the phone if I did that. I just wash my hands well before I do anything that requires it and again if I have touch a door knob etc during the process. I suspect some of us go over the top with hygiene. We do have an immune system and it has been said that in the beginning of the pandemic the government made too much of the perils of surface contact over the perils of air borne aerosols.

Yes, the context of my response was that if one uses a isopropyl based solution it will damage the oleophobic coating of a display or glass protecter with one.

I was not suggesting one must wash their hands prior to using their device every time. 😏

I disinfect my devices (iPhone, iPad, watch, AirPods, etc.) around once a week with a disinfectant wipe. My 7 and 9 year olds touch my stuff sometimes, and kids are gross.

I guarantee I don't wash my hands before *every* time I touch my phone. I figure that puts me in the 17,000 to 25,000 bacteria per square inch range. I sanitize with a UV light when I think about it.

I do wash my hands multiple times per day, though.

I wipe it down with Lysol wipes every night before bed. So, once a day. I was doing this way before the pandemic, though.

Never. Not once. Trust your body to fight infections. Coddling your immune system could probably be compared to helicopter parenting; if you don’t give it the opportunity to build itself it’ll be dumbfounded the first time it’s presented with something more dangerous that the common germs found in the the average home.

It would be more prudent to wash your hands before and after eating/prepping food. In the extreme remote chance of getting a surface borne infection, the usual route is from your hands to your mouth. Inanimate devices will not contract illnesses.

I will occasional screen cleaning but never a disinfection with wipes. I do UV sanitizing once or twice per year--not sure how effective/useful that is.
