How often to Apple refresh the MBPs and how often do they change their offers?

Really want the new Macbook Pro, but I can't quite afford it at the moment. I know Apple include several smaller refreshes under the radar between major updates like the current one, but I'm not quite sure how far apart they come.
Also, at the moment they have the boring printer offer when you buy a system, anyone know how often the free iPod offers come around instead?

Yeah I had a little look at that before I posted this. The updates listed there are yearly ones, I wondered if anyone knew the frequency of the smaller updates that don't get a big ol' press release.
I'll sift through the individually tagged articles, see what I can find.
