hi I'm wondering how common it is to get kernal panics from 3rd party ram because my cosin is getting a macbook and im trying to convince her to install her own ram to save money but if something happens like she gets a bunch of kernal panics I'll never hear the end of it

You can get kernel panics from Apple ram too if it's bad. Any bad or incorrect ram can cause kernel panics. Just make sure you get the right ram and a guarantee to go with it.

newegg ram says it has a lifetime warrenty but is that the same as crucials garentee

I've never had to deal with either Newegg or Crucial for warranties. But I will say that I've never had problems buying RAM from Newegg. However, I always check the comments on Newegg to make sure that several people have reported satisfactory results with that RAM on the model of Mac I have.

yeah ok thanx I just checked and the ram has gotten alot of good reviews by macbook users

thanx again

it's not like apple has magical ram thats perfect in every way.

The most important thing to remember is to deal with someone who'll replace it if it doesn't work in your Mac. A Mac-specialising dealer would be ideal. :)
