I was just curious to see how quickly everyones Mac system boots up. When I first got my Intel iMac (20') it booted fully in 29 seconds. Much faster than any PC in this house at least, and after putting almost 30 gigs of my files on, it now boots in just 30 -32 seconds flat. i remember having my Pentium (sp?) 4 Gateway PC and it took at least 3 mins to fully boot.

If you're bored post your computer and how fast it boots up. I'm not in any way trying to say that boot up time matters, nor am I saying that Macs are faster at booting, just a little thing I was curious about, so post somtehing along these lines. (I'll do mine)

Intel iMac 20', 1 gig RAM - 30 to 32 seconds to fully boot.

Also, Windows XP is not fully "booted" when you reach the login screen. OS services are still starting in the background. This is in contrast to Linux and Win 2000 which are fully started when you see the login screen. I'm not sure whether OS X does that also or not.

The usefulness of such a feature is debatable.

Both starting the second i pressed the power button, and ending when they were sitting on the desktop ready to go.
I don't have Bootcamp on the MacBook to do a comparison of them booting on the same machine.

MacBook - 30 seconds
Windows PC = 38 seconds (BIOS, POST and RAID Initialization take far longer than windows itself to boot)

Specs below.

Well I don't really know how fast it would start up...I only give it a re-boot after an OS update or software that needs a re-boot.

Then with that it takes quite a long time to boot, more than a minute maybe two !

Anyway..only happens about every two weeks :D

My Macbook with login is about 25 seconds. However, when I first got it, it was around 10 seconds.

of course, it's a very sad, sick computer which is getting replaced in a week or two by a shiny new macbook :D
