Just curious to know how quickly the Mac Studio takes to boot from cold.

To Mac Studio owners, can you time it from hitting the power button to either getting the password prompt or to the desktop, depending on how you have it configured.

Don’t do it from sleep, properly shut it down first.

Post your Mac Studio model (Max or Ultra) and the time taken to either password prompt or desktop please.

Thanks.

Nope, to Mac OS login page. For fairness, the hackintosh is quite powerful, i9 10900.
Your result is much faster than all other Hackintoshes, as the fastest ever reported is 15 seconds, from OpenCore menu to macOS login screen. Usually a POST screen period (Power Button to loading OS/bootloader) on a PC takes about 5 seconds, so yours is pretty impressive. I don't think an i9 CPU matters however.

Well, you are right, I did not include POST and mainboard logo time. It will be about additional 5 seconds. From Opencore screen to Mac login about 4 seconds. In addition to Intel i9, another factor is a very fast drive, WDS100T1X0E-00AFY0 or WD Black NVME drive. I might even shoot the boot video, it is that fast, lol.

Replying to my own thread.

From pressing the power button to getting the password prompt on my Ultra is 13.5 seconds.

From hitting enter after the password to getting a usable desktop is an additional 11.8 seconds.

The longest part seems to be after pressing the power button before the screens light up.

With a bunch of accessories; 2 monitors, Sonnet Echo Express PCIe box, Webcam, CalDigit Elements hub, and 2 external Lacie SSDs, my Mac Studio M1 Max 10c/32c/16c/64GB/2TB takes 12 seconds to login.

It used to take another 15 seconds to a working desktop after I pressed enter.

However, these days it takes 75 seconds, as my login sits at around 60% for a full minute, and then it decides to continue. I don’t know what is causing this, but we are a few to whom this behaviour started with Ventura Beta 4…

Who even shuts down their Mac? My close to 11 year old MPB hasn't been fully shutdown in years. My M1 Mac don't know nor care to remember. I'm far more interested in what it can do when it's up than the few seconds it takes to boot up...
I never did until the Mac Studio which doesn't seem to sleep properly.

If I put it in sleep mode, when I wake it up, the temperature is through the roof because the fans have gone off and it's clearly doing something when it's allegedly sleeping.

From pushing the button to what point? Password entry or desktop?
From boot sound to Password entry, but after entering the PW I'm immediately on desktop. It's blazingly fast.

Boot sound isn't instant which is why I asked from pressing the power button :)
The time you've quoted is less than half of the same process for every other person on here.... except it's not the same process.

Well, the boot sound happens almost immediately after pressing the power button. So, I guess from pressing the button to entering the PW it's 6sec, all the way to the desktop 7 or 8? I don't care to be honest. It's fast and it makes me happy. :)
