How remove CD from drive?

Got a broken (dead) G4 mini with a CD drive. Inside the CD drive is a CD I'd like to have. Is there a non-destructive way to remove the CD from the drive?

Is the Mac completely dead or can you try the old trick of holding the mouse button during startup?
