How restore jailbroken phone?

I just did a quickpwn on my 3g and was wondering how I restore it to it's orginal setting being that I need a phone replacement (light leak).
I'm new to this.thanks

It should literally be as simple as plugging the phone into iTunes and clicking Restore. It will wipe out all your data and install the most recent iPhone OS and your phone will be factory fresh with nothing on it.

So I will lose everything on my iphone? mind you that I didnt backup up my phone before doing the quickpwn.

Ah. Well in that case, you will want to sync it first and do a complete backup. Once you get your replacement phone, you can sync it again to restore your data.

But yes, going from jailbroken to non-jailbroken does require a complete restore of the phone, so one way or another you'll want to do that before turning it in.

So being that its jb their will be no problem in the transition of sending a jb phone files to a new non-jb phone? I just want to assure that Im not going to lose my contacts and some of the apps on my phone.

depends what you have done. for example if you have make it mine and you did the custom banner then backup. your going to have that there when your phones vanilla again.

I had pixels out and when i got a new one i lost all my contacts but thats because my backups were corrupt and i was tooooo lazy to sit and wait 3 hours for itunes to back up my phone (pre 2.1)

as for your apps there on your computer so you will just have to sync to get them back. not really a big deal.

No, it won't be an issue restoring a jailbroken backup to a non-jailbroken phone. You might get a little more than you want (leftover preferences from the jailbreak and things like that), but it won't cause any problems with the phone and all your data will survive the transition.

EDIT: Macgic summed it up pretty well above. If your carrier string moves over and you don't want it you can use a simple utility like CaptionCrunch to clear it.

well if you JB first then restore aren't getting rid of the JB?

when you plug the phone in i believe it will say either start as a new phone or use a backup. just use the back up and then JB again.

basically just do what you did when you JB your original phone

You Restore from Backup then Quickpwn and everything will still be there. Its PwnageTool that erases and jailbreaks.

I think some people get confused on the difference between "sync" and "restore."

make sure after you restore before you set up the phone you clear the data and files.. or else JB files will be able to be detected by a genius.
