Hi.

This is my first post here, soon to be apple newbie.
I've been a PC user for my whole life but the hard drive crashed on my old laptop and I just gave up, going to sell my soul to Steve Jobs.

I need a computer right now and the Air appeals me most.
But the big question is WHEN does the new one iarrive? I know you guys don't have the specific date but are we talking a week, month or the end of June?

-Sverrir

ps. back to school offer Deutschland - anyone have a clue when it begins here?

November...? How come most people on this forum have the idea that it's coming early June?

There are rumors that it will be released in June, and otherwise I've heard a lot of people say September or October. This is the first I've heard of November though.

The Back To School Sale started in Japan and a few other countries already, and history shows that it usually starts in late may in the US. You might want to search for previous years sales in Germany to see when it usually starts.

I would by a Macbook Air now from Amazon, you have 30 days to return it if the new one happens to come out. I just bought a Air and will sell and upgrade once the new model comes out. If you can wait I would wait but if you need a laptop now no reason not to buy.

No-one knows exactly when it'll come out ('cept for Apple people).

WWDC is Apple's yearly developer conference where they'll talk about OSX 10.7 Lion and iOS 5.0. They've already said there's not going to be any hardware announcements at WWDC 2011 (usually the new iPhone would come out at WWDC, but not this year).

So my guess would be later in June. WWDC runs June 6-10th.

Maybe 3rd or 4th week in June? Apple usually spits out new hardware on Tuesdays, and I think it'd be weird for them to release new hardware the Tuesday right after WWDC (why not release it at WWDC then?)

I wouldn't expect anything before November.

Where are you guys getting this from? Two reliable sources have said June.

That's by no means a certainty, but is far more backed up by reliable sources than anything you're posting here. If you have more info regarding your claims of November/Q3, I'd be glad to hear it.

Otherwise, CNET (who correctly predicted the 13" 2011 MBPs would get Intel Graphics again) and the guy who correctly predicted the 11" MBA over 3 months before it came out have both said June is when the MBA will get refreshed.

Well the back to school offer, more RAM, better processor and possibly a backlit keyboard is giving me headaches. Could buy now and enjoy life, but I could buy later and enjoy it a little bit more I presume.

The 2010 is a magnificent machine but if I were you I'd wait a month for the latest and greatest. June is not far off and if it is updated before school starts then perfect - otherwise look into a refurb 2010 unit with 4GB.

Not soon enough. Then we can all read the threads on how horrible the new ones are. I expect to see total thread carnage around here when it releases.
I can't wait!

Hah. It really is a neverending struggle on here.

When there was no Arrandale MBAs last year, everyone was poo-pooing Arrandale's IGP (rightly so) and saying that when Sandy Bridge came out this year, it would be our MBA saviour.

Now that Sandy Bridge is on the horizon, everyone's poo-pooing the Intel HD3000 (semi-rightly so) and saying Ivy Bridge will be our saviour!

Jump to next year at this time - the Ivy Bridge will be released or on the horizon, and everyone will poo-pooh that machine and tell us to wait for Haswell.
