Any major issue? Is there a list of issues for us to determine if it is worth the risk trying?

If we backup before trying, what would be the worst case? Can we recover back to the current state?

iTunes or Finder archived backup, yes, you can recover.

Thus far, I’ve only installed on my iPad 7th gen last night to test app compatibility. No crashes so far but it felt a bit laggy (although that could just be from initial setup). With that said, I wouldn’t install it on my daily driver.

Major issues? No... there's the occasional crashes, but that's to be expected. But I don't have them often.

Is it a risk? Yes... there's always a risk when installing a beta especially a developer beta. Anything can possibly happen when doing so... if something goes wrong, you'll be responsible for it not us or Apple. If you have doubts, I recommend waiting for public beta due next month (I think).
