Giving an iPhone as a gift and it arrived 2+ weeks earlier than the shipping window I was given upon ordering. So naturally the trade in kit arrived and says I have to have it shipped within 14 days. Which of course is many days before the date I’d like to give the gift.

Is Apple a stickler about this? Should I call and ask for an extension? Just send it late?

I think they just assume your keeping the original phone too and continue both loans from that time forward... I would definitely contact Apple to find out your options

Probably should've specified...this isn't IUP, this is just the regular "trade in your phone to Apple" thing. We own the older phones outright at this point.

If anyone else has this issue, I got the answer from Apple. While they can't extend the 14 day trade-in period (the trade-in is automatically closed out as unfulfilled after 14 days), you can just take your old phone into an Apple store and trade it in for an Apple/iTunes gift card or use it for store credit on the spot. Should be at the same value you'd have received in trade.
