Accidents do happen, in the past i busted my regular watch lens after i swung my arm and accidently banged my watch to a door post, the lens cracked from impact. How strong are aw saphire lens? I know it is scratch resistant but can it also protect from hard blows. Sometimes we worked around the garage and it is most likely that we bump our watches against hard objects such as steel by accident. Has an independent company test this, not just a drop test. Are bumpers enough to protect the lens and what kind of accessories are sold in the market that I can buy? Is it going to interfere with the touch screen? Need some opinion.

The Problem with Sapphire is it is very hard BUT Brittle so yes it will crack if you hit it on the right angle.

Dropped mine on the tile floor while polishing it. Smashed it real good. Don't get a case, don't get a screen protector. Get AppleCare+ and let your watch be naked. I have AppleCare+ and when my screen shattered I didn't even flinch because I know I'm covered.

This. I had never bought AppleCare+ for anything until I got my watch. Now I have it on my watch and iPhone.

Apple had not used sapphire for its screens. Apple had made an investment in a sapphire factory via a partnership with GT Advanced, after all.
