I'm working through Todd Othoff's excellent YouTube videos on setting up OS/X server, but have run into a problem -- it's not something he's shown how to do yet.
My problem is that I cannot connect to Mavericks server from another computer on the internal network.
-------
For another computer on the local network, not sure all this is necessary, but so far I have setup DNS and Open Directory. I created a networked user.
The problem I'm having is that when I type in the IP address into Finder's "Connect to Server" dialog from another computer, it says there's a problem connecting to the machine. I am able to "share the screen" since that option is explicitly enabled in server so I know the other network machine is able to "see" the server.
I've tried also typing in the server name into finder's Connect To Server dialog.
I can ping the server with no problems so the IP address is "answering".
Perhaps I don't have some other service enabled? Not sure. I saw one posting on the Apple App Store where someone said he couldn't log in via a network account.
Do I need to enable file sharing or something like that?
I'm using OS/X Server 3.0.2.
This server is just for the local network.
Thanks for any suggestions.
