Hi. Many sites and Apple Support take you through the process of addinga username / password to add a website/app but when you get to the right place to add one in iOS, the only option is "website" . There is no "app"/

I cant see how to add a password to an application. I'd be expecting to pick an app from a drop down list of teh ones on my phone or similar.
Have i missed something ?

You can’t in iOS.

You can add various types of passwords or keys in macOS but on iPhone everything is assumed to be a username and password combination.

In practice, app logins are nearly always forwarded to the app's associated website. Every saved app login on my phone (which is saved by entering it via the app, rather than via Settings > Passwords & Accounts) appears as a web login in Passwords & Accounts.

I guess Apple could come up with a system that addresses your interest in using Passwords & Accounts, rather than the app, to enter the password. I just wonder whether it's enough of a benefit to justify the effort on the part of Apple and the developers.

Expanding on this a bit: If you know that the app is associated with a given domain, you can use that domain for the website field when adding a password manually. The app may not have associated itself with that domain, in which case you’d need to find the password yourself instead of having the associated password suggested above the keyboard. It’ll still be there if you need it, though.
