My mind
I have a 2018 iPad Pro that has a Verizon Sim in it. That's fine for when I leave the house but at home, I don't get Verizon service here so I would like to add T-Mobile which has excellent coverage at my house.

When I go to cellular and tap on add new plan, it just takes me to the scan code screen just like the iPhone does.

How do I get a T-Mobile plan on my iPad?

Are you already setup on a Verizon plan? You can only use one data plan.
Yes, it had a Verizon Sim card in it. So if I take that out, how would I sign up for T-Mobile service with a T-Mobile SIM in it? It's not like the last few iPad models where you just insert a T-Mobile SIM and hit add new plan. This keeps wanting me to scan a code instead.

When I go to settings, cellular data, add new plan, it gives me options to add plans.

This is the screen I get.

So I found out that the embedded Sim is disabled on the Verizon models and that's why I can't choose any carriers as shown in my screenshot above. Looks like I have to get a T-Mobile Sim and activate it on my mini and then switch it over to my Pro. I ordered a few Sim cards on eBay on Friday so they should be here in a few days.
