gentlepersons,

can somebody be so kind and described a way to add your own MP3s to Apple Music‘s media library on an iPad WITHOUT access to any other device besides said iPad?

More details: my parents have bought some music on Amazon and downloaded it. The mp3-files are accessible and playable inside the download folder within the Apple’s Files app. The sharing menu offers the usual suspects (Airdrop, Messages, Mail, etc.) but not Music. Funny enough besides it there is the option to directly open it in VLC (see screen shot).

So is there a way to get these files into Apple Music? Or can somebody recommend a MP3-Player app which allows to create Playlists and which runs in the background?

I'm not sure if that's possible I'm afraid. The best method if you don't have a Mac is to use a Windows PC with iTunes. First, make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID on the iPad and the PC, then connect the iPad via usb to transfer the mp3 files to the PC's hard drive. Next, add those mp3 files to your iTunes library (look in the File menu and select Import Media Files or something along those lines), and then sync them to the iPad, and they should now be playable through the Apple Music App.
If you want a clearer step-by-step guide, check out https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/itunes/itns32636/windows for transferring the files from the iPad to the PC, and https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT210612 to sync the music from your PC to the iPad :)

You can also check out alternative music apps that would let you do this. There are many out there, some of which have arguably better UI/UX than apple's Music app. Some even have integration with Apple Music so that you can get your cloud stuff and local stuff in one UI.

Thanks. Sadly that is no option for my parents because they use iPads exclusively and do not have access to a lap- or desktop.

Anything you can recommend in particular?
