How to add Music to iTunes/Mac?

I can't seem to add Apple Music tracks to iTunes. I just did a restart so that is not my problem. Here are the steps I'm taking. Not sure if relevant but have Match but keep original/local music on my Mac. Running iOS9 on my iPhone but I'm only working on my Mac for this.

  • Created a Playlist named Apple Music test
  • In For You hit Hamburger on a song (see pic)
  • Select Add to (or Add to My Music)
  • Go to Apple Music test Playlist and Playlist is empty
  • Go to Smart Playlist Recently Added and not there
  • Do to My Music and search and nothing comes up

What is missing?

Just went to Apple Support and it seems to say what I'm doing is correct. In the steps above what am I doing wrong?

I can't try this on my iPhone until next week but shouldn't it work in iTunes?

Sorry for answering with a rather basic reply, but this one actually helped me. Did you check if the menu option "View > Only Music Available Offline" is enabled?
 
Can vouch for the OP: I had the option you described a couple of days ago,
but it has now disappeared.
iTunes 12.2 as well here

I would ask if you have iTunes 12.2, but I think if not, then you wouldn't see anything related to Apple Music.

I don't see or have that. Not sure what to do at this point.

Are you saying the 'All Music' selection under View disappears (not there now) or suddenly showed up (there now)?

Strangely it has just started ½ (or more) working. I can add a song to My Music and it also shows up in Recently added (and move to any Playlist). However if I try to add directly to a Playlist (Add to: Playlist: Apple Music test) nothing happens.

Can you add directly to a Playlist (and of course it will go to My Music also).
