How to add photo albums from phone to mac?

I've checked under my iphone 6 settings and I have everything set to sync. Now I open my "photos" app and an album I created on my iphone is not here. What do I need to do? Where can I see what has been backuped to the cloud? I bought additional storage of up to 50GB and should have plenty of room.

Do you have iCloud Photo Library enabled on both devices?

Where can I see what has been backuped to the cloud?

Use your web web browser to connect to your iCloud account, enter Apple ID & Password, click the Photos icon and browse the pictures stored in iCloud.
