U.K.
My iMac arrived a couple of hours ago. Am still exploring it but when browsing the page is not big enough and I cannot see how to make it larger.

So I have a nice 20" screen with my webpage only taking up just over half the width. Have to say I love it so far especially the keyboard altho a few things seem to be in the wrong place ;)

Edited to add have found out how to do this. So another question: why is there an icon top right of screen titled Macintosh HD? and how can I remove it?
Also I chatted a lot on msn.....I'm guessing I can no longer do this with my iMac?

The little triangle on the right hand corner at the bottom of the window.

Here's the thing with OS X, try not to get into the windows habit of stretching all your windows to fit the entire page. OS X has better window management with expose and it's easier to see your pages in a layered way, it wasn't designed to have pages that fill the entire screen so you're just working against the OS rather than with it. The only time I ever have a completely maximised window is when working in Photoshop or Final Cut Pro.

As to your other questions... Macintosh HD is the hard drive of your computer, think of it like 'My Computer'. You can get rid of it by dragging it to the trash, clicking the Finder icon in the dock (the blue face) pretty much does the same thing.

Yes you can use MSN on your iMac, either by downloading the Mac version of it from Microsoft or by using Adium which I prefer.

Thanks for reply. I need the pages larger because of my bad eyesight ;) but have discovered by clicking left button on side it shows all open applications so it's not a problem having it bigger.
Have downloaded msn cheers.
Cannot seem to get rid of the hd icon nor the microsoft messenger one I now have under it. :(

The messenger icon is a disk image. Think of it as a virtual CD. What you need to do is click on the disk image, then drag the MSN application inside it to the Applications folder. You've just installed MSN on your Mac. Then you drag the MSN application from your Applications folder to the dock. Now you can drag that MSN icon on your desktop to the trash. This will eject the 'disk'. Now to get rid of your Hard drive icon go to the finder, from there click on the finder in the menu bar, then preferences, then uncheck the boxes of the things you don't want displayed on your desktop.
