How to automatically check for updates to apps without installing them

As the title says, I just want notifications about new versions pushed to my desktop without automatic installation. This option was easy to find in Mojave, but where the h ell is it in Catalina?

Open App Store preferences and disable automatic updates

I’m looking for a solution to ignore updates, hide them from being displayed into the Updates section of the App Store.

But I want notifications about new available updates. I guess that's an issue for the individual app developers.
